How to Join Pak Army as Commissioned Officer 2025

Qualification for PMA Long Course

Candidates who are eligible for the PMA Long Course may have different qualifications and age requirements. Here are the different criteria:

1. Candidates with an F.A / F.Sc or equivalent certificate and aged between 17-22 years are eligible for the PMA Long Course. There is a three-month age relaxation for both the lower and upper age limits.

2. Graduates with a 2-year graduation degree are eligible for the PMA Long Course. However, this criterion is applicable only to those who are serving in the PN / Pakistan Air Force and are aged between 17-23 years. They also have a three-month age relaxation for both the lower and upper age limits.

3. Graduates with a 4-year graduation program of BS/ BA Hons/ BBA/ and BPA are eligible for the PMA Long Course. The maximum age limit for these candidates is between 17 to 25 years. However, they do not have any age relaxation.

4. Serving personnel of the Armed Forces with an age between 17 to 25 years are eligible for the PMA Long Course. They do not have any age relaxation.

5. Candidates who have qualified with a minimum of 55% marks in Fa/ FSc or equivalent are eligible for the PMA Long Course.

6. Candidates who have scored 60% or above in BA/ BSc/ BA/BSc Hons and BBA/ BPA, and have 50% marks in FA / FSc are eligible for the PMA Long Course.

7. Candidates with 55% marks who have a specific area domicile in Baluchistan, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, District Neelum Azad Jammu Kashmir, District Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Tehsil Bala Kot (Kaghan, Naran) of District Mansehra in KPK, Tharparker, Tehsil Umer Kot in Sind, District Rajanpur, Area of Cholistan Desert, Drawar Fort, Salamsar, Mojgarh, and Dingarh of Punjab are eligible for the PMA Long Course.

8. Candidates who have received their educational certificates from the same area mentioned above are also eligible for the PMA Long Course.

9. Candidates who are serving in the Pak Army and have 50% marks in FA/ FSc or equivalent are eligible for the PMA Long Course.

General Physical Standards of Candidate for PMA Long Course

The candidate must have a minimum height of 5 feet and 4 inches (162.5 cm).

Ensure that the weight of the body is in accordance with the Body Mass Index.

Verify the total age.

Selection Criteria for Registration of Pakistan Army Officers in PMA Long Course

To be eligible to join the Army of Pakistan through the PMA Long Course, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be a male citizen of Pakistan.

2. Should be unmarried. However, those who are married and currently serving in the Pakistan Armed Forces on a regular basis, and are over 20 years of age, are also eligible to apply.

3. Must have completed Intermediate or an equivalent qualification, or have a 2-year or 4-year graduate degree, or be currently serving in the Army.

4. Should be a resident of Pakistani nationality.

5. Must hold a domicile of Azad Kashmir or Gilgit Baltistan.

6. Upon final selection for the PMA Long Course, the candidate will be required to renounce their foreign nationality and retain only Pakistani nationality.

7. The candidate will undergo a training period of 2 years.

Hope Certificate apply for PMA Long Course

Candidates who have successfully completed part-I of FA / FSc with a score of 60% and are currently taking or have taken their final term examination can apply for the PMA Long Course. They must provide a Hope Certificate issued by the head of their institute.

Verification of Marks Sheet / Certificate

Candidates who do not possess certificates issued by the board or institutions with duplicate/revised mark sheets, matric certificates, intermediate certificates, or BA/BSc degrees must obtain a verification certificate signed by the Secretary/Controller Examination of the relevant Board/University.

Students who hold an ‘A’ level certificate in Pakistan with a minimum of 60% marks are eligible to apply without obtaining an equivalent certificate as calculated by IBCC.

However, candidates who have cleared A-level and equivalent exams from a foreign country, or have cleared their exams from Pakistan with marks lower than Cs, are required to submit an equivalent certificate issued by IBCC.

Initial Medical Examination

Upon successfully passing the written examination of PMA Long Course, candidates are required to undergo a pre-medical examination. This examination includes cleaning of the ears and body (under shaves), as well as an eyesight check-up.

If a candidate has weak eyesight, it is necessary for them to bring their glasses before attending the Army Selection Centre.

The documents that are required for the PMA Long Course include a Smart CNIC Card, Domicile, DMC and Original Certificate of Matric and Intermediate, CNIC Copy of Father/Mother/Guardian, and 06 Passport Size photos.

Initial Physical Tests (PT) of PMA Long Course

The candidate must meet the following requirements for the Physical Tests:

– Complete a 1.6 KM run within 8 minutes (worth 03 Marks)

– Perform 03 Pull Ups within 02 minutes (worth 2 Marks)

– Complete 15 Push Ups within 02 minutes (worth 02 Marks)

– Perform 20 Sit Ups within 02 minutes (worth 02 Marks)

– Complete 20 Crunches within 02 minutes (worth 02 Marks)

– Successfully cross a ditch with dimensions of 7′.4″ x 7′.4″ and a depth of 4′ (worth 01 Mark).

Initial Interview of PMA Long Course by the Army Officers Selection & Recruitment Officer (S&RO)

Candidates who successfully pass the Initial written, medical, and physical tests will be required to appear before the Army Selection & Recruitment Officer (S&RO) to proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

Upon reporting to the Army Selection Centres, candidates are provided with white papers and instructed to write an essay of at least 10 lines in both Urdu and English languages.

The topics for the essay are usually displayed on the notice board inside the Selection centre. Each candidate is awarded 20 marks for their essay.

Candidates who score less than 12 marks are considered to have failed the interview and are deemed ineligible for further processing by the ISSB.

Those who score more than 12 marks and pass the interview are given ISSB forms, which they must submit within a specified timeframe.
